Importance of contributing to APAC

For decades, APAC has helped to elect pro-multifamily industry candidates from across Florida.

The purpose of APAC is simple: Raise funds to help elect candidates who understand and support our issues and interests. APAC has a track record of success with 98 percent of APAC-supported candidates winning their election or reelection. However, APAC’s impact doesn’t end on Election Day. The relationships we cultivate with lawmakers through APAC help FAA and its local affiliates advocate for the apartment industry all year long.

The future of the Florida apartment industry depends on a robust political advocacy strategy that includes a strongly supported APAC.

In order to continue its efforts of advancing and defending the Florida apartment industry, APAC must raise over $450,000 in 2025.

  1. Members Contribute to APAC
    • FAA members contribute to APAC throughout the year. These contributions are pooled together to support local and state candidates who demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively with the apartment industry.
  2. APAC BOD Budgets for Success
    • Each election cycle, the FAA government affairs team and the APAC Board of Directors (APAC BOD) prepare a budget to support candidates based on the industry’s strategic goals and regardless of political party.
  3. Approval of Candidate and Campaign Contributions
    • The APAC BOD meets throughout the year to establish an election cycle budget, candidate screening and endorsement process, and the ultimate approval of political contributions as Florida’s political landscape evolves. Approval of campaign contributions are prioritized based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to:
      1. Candidates who serve or will serve as committee chairs or in leadership positions for both political parties in the Florida House and Senate.

      2. Candidates who have demonstrated a willingness to work collaboratively with the apartment industry or who have a voting record that aligns with the industry’s positions on many issues.

      3. Strategic races or regions in the state where the FAA is making an effort to build stronger relationships with elected officials.

  4. Campaign or Political Committee Contributions Provided
    • Once approved by the APAC BOD, APAC funds are disbursed to local and state candidates, across the political party aisle, throughout the election cycle. This process typically involves an in-person meeting with the candidate to discuss the policy issues that matter most to the apartment industry.

A strongly supported APAC allows the Florida Apartment Association to continue to build relationships with local and state candidates and elected officials. The relationships provide the apartment industry with a valuable seat at the table when public policy decisions come to fruition.
